I may have lost my mind!

You know why I took up hooking almost 20 years ago? Quilting! I used to quilt and could never line my points up so I took up a more forgiving craft, rug hooking, where perfection is not required. I haven't quilted in nearly 20 years.
So why have I lost my mind? Well it starts with this wonderful assortment of fabric. Aren't the colors wonderful? Photobucket
Throw in the sewing machine which constantly gives me fits.
Oh and did I mention, one of the last times I used this thing, I sewed over my finger nail...painful, very painful! Photobucket

Add in a rotary cutter and mat which makes me just cringe as I can't cut worth a darn with a rotary cutter.

And finally a quilt pattern. Really....I know you are asking yourself if that really is a quilt design and the answer is yes. Photobucket
I'm putting a baby basket together for a fund raiser and one of the items is going to be a baby quilt. So check back to see how this comes together and wish me luck. Maria

LOL! I think you HAVE lost your mind, Maria! I was a big-time sewer but could not get the hang of quilting either...so good luck to you and keep us posted as to your progress. You go girl! You can do anything!

OH Maria...I totally get where you are coming from! I wanted to quilt so badly...my DH bought me very expensive sewing maching that does everything BUT cut the fabric..after three classes...I just don't have the patience to quilt. My points never did line up either and I did slice my finger with the rotary cutter. I belong with the "quilting impaired" group...I'd rather be hooking!

Your colors are gorgeous and so is the design!! I, too, tried quilting ~ not fun ~ couldn't get those points to line up at all!! One of my blog friends says quilting is entirely different now with paper piecing and different techniques!! I know yours will be great and it will be exciting to see your results!!

I usually lurk, but I had to come in to wish you good luck. And laugh. I'm the same way! I used to quilt, but turned to cross stitch as a more forgiving craft. Recently I decided to quilt again. When I abandoned quilting I was more into hand applique and English paper piecing -- more forgiving. My first quilt that I'm making now? English paper piecing. Forget those points! lol!

Ouch Maria, can't imagine going over the nail with the needle. Makes me shudder! I have no doubt with your creativity and talent that you will produce a wonderful piece. But as you requested, "Good Luck".... But you won't need it. Can't wait to see how it turns out!

Beautiful fabrics! I'm wishing you luck! I'll be the odd man out and say that I still love quilting but you are right in that rug hooking is much more forgiving. I love both mediums!

Maria,
If you start quilting more and hooking less like Jacque and Brenis I'm going to have to start a campaign against quilters! I wish you luck, but secretly hope you still don't like it as much as rug hooking :)

I know you'll so a great job Maria! Sewing & quilting is in my past too. I don't know now if I will ever revisit it or not, but I still have everything I would need to take it up again. There is just something about the feel of the hook & the wool for me.

I did the same thing. I was quilting and making designs and then got into rug hooking. Now I am quilting again.

Maria I quilted over 20+ years as well, I have appliqued tops and sewing machines I never touched. I only liked hand applique not quilting. I never pieced anything! I think that's why I like hooking. good luck1
