I wanted to share a little mat that I punched hooked while at Barbara Carroll's last week. After class, I stayed up late and hooked while my mates were ZZZZZZZing....I'm not naming any names though!
Years ago, I purchased an Amy Oxford Punch hook and never had much success with it. Lori Brechlin had punched a rug using 1/4 inch strips of wool and it was wonderful...but again when I tried I just couldn't get the hang of it. After reading my friends' blogs (Ginger, Primitives by the light of the moon and PatiJane)and learning about their new found appreciation for punch hooking, I thought I would give it another go. Ginger and Pati had taken a class from Frank Bileac (sp)(who is also a great guy) at Star of Texas rug camp earlier this fall and made all these wonderful items....so through their blogs, I was determined to try it again. AND this is the result. I love the ease of the punching and how quickly the projects are completed. I was also able to punch some glittery wool into the rug. I'll be posting some photos soon of my rug and time spent at Barb Carroll's class. Til next time. Maria
Maria, it looks great!!! I am glad you gavce it another go! I did that with knitting a few years ago...came back to it after not having much success with it and then zooooom! I was "hooked" - no pun intended!!!
ReplyDeleteThe project is great and you give me confidence to try...I've been thinking of some sort of needle punch or rug hook!
Maria ~
ReplyDeleteI, too, bought one of those Oxford needles years ago and have not yet tried it. Maybe all you bloggers will inspire me!
Hugs :)
Lauren
Great job Marian! I keep saying I'm going to try to use my Oxford punch (I have 2 different sizes)... maybe I'll get around to it soon! :)
ReplyDeleteIt's darling, Maria!! And I'm sure I was not ZZZZZZZing!! Well, maybe!!
ReplyDeleteNow Knitting is something I'd love to learn but just can not get the hang of it. Maybe one of these days, I'll take a class!
ReplyDeleteBetty and Lauren, you gotta get that Oxford hook out. The one that works best for hooking is the 8. I think it was easier for me to do it this time because of needle punching. Same concept. Go for it!
Your punched pumpkin turned out so wonderful. Isn't it fast!
ReplyDeleteHi Maria! Thanks so much for all your hooking posts!! I've kinda given up on your publishing a book (yep, I'm the one who kept asking on visitor day at Star/Tx camp - smile!!)but I am so thankful for your inspiring blog posts. Love your style & patterns - thank you!!
ReplyDeleteAlice, You sleeping? Never! I bet you were adorning those cute pins you made for all of us!
ReplyDeleteGinger, Thank you for posting on your blog and giving me the inspiration to try this. It is great.
