Teaching in Holland, Michigan
I've been teaching at the Heirlooms Rug Camp in Holland, Mi this week and what a lovely location for a camp. The camp is within walking distance to downtown Holland which is just the quaintest town and chalk full of great restaurants and awesome shopping. Of course, the Blair family are the best hosts!

A work in progress and a fabulous finish from Linda
I've been slowly, and I do mean slowly, hooking this pattern. It has been on this frame for at least 1 1/2 months which is a long time for me. I'm going to force, well challenge, myself to hook at least 2 triangles a day to get this rug done in the next couple of weeks.
When I taught at the Biennial in Lancaster, PA, I taught this rug.
However, one of the gals wondered if I could make it into a runner so she could put a candle in the center area between the two pumpkins. What a brilliant idea and the ATHA pumpkin runner came to be. Linda Long just sent me a picture of my ATHA pumpkin runner and isn't it fabulous. It is such a fun pattern.
Thanks to the ever talented Linda for sharing her finished version of my pattern. Maria

What is on my frame this week
It is based on an illustration from an old children's book.
UPDATE ON THE BRAIDING TUTORIAL...I am working on it and have part 1 done. Once I have the remaining parts done, I will post the first part, second part, third part and possibly a fourth part. So find a rug that you want to add a braid to and you'll be braiding hopefully by the weekend! Maria

Labels
Do you add labels to your rugs? I don't always get around to adding a label but do think it is a good idea to add them to your rugs. Here is the label on my Oh Deer rug.
To make the label, I printed it from my computer and attached the label to a piece of wool. When I attached the wool to the rug, I wanted something "not too fancy" as this rug does not scream sophisticated but rather primitive and folky. So I attached the label with red X's. A little different but I like it.
I'm working on my braiding tips and it is becoming more like a book on how to braid. Do you all want a little tutorial on how to attach braiding to rug or just tips?
Thanks for stopping by, Maria

Oh Deer!
A little project to whet your rug hooking appetite.
The braided edge gave me fits but I'll share some tips that I discovered about braiding in my next post. Maria

The latest rug on my frame
Camera shots sure help you see worms that stick out like a sore thumb. See those two light colored worms on the inside of the deer. Well, I'll be yanking those little guys out! Thanks for stopping by, Maria
